Terrarium Maintenance
-
· Feel the soil in your terrarium every week or two. Mist the plants with water or when the soil appears dry. You can use a turkey baster or eye dropper to keep the soil evenly moist (but not soggy). If the soil is moist to the touch or there is condensation on the glass of the container you do not need to water it. If there is a large amount of condensation on the glass take the lid off until the wall of the container clears.
-
Trim plants as they grow & remove dying leaves which can rot & attract fungus. Trimming will also help control height so they don’t outgrow their container.

Air Plant Terrarium Maintenance
-
Air plants require much less maintenance than other house plants.
-
These plants don’t get replacement water from their roots like other plants or draw on internal moisture like succulents. Mist the plant every 4-5 days with 2-3 sprays. If you over water the plant it will die.
-
If your plant no longer looks healthy as it did when you received it take it out of the terrarium globe & soak it for 30 minutes to an hour. Shake it & place it upside down. Water can collect at the base of the plant. Allow it to almost completely dry before replacing in the globe.
-
It is best to water the plant in the morning rather than at night since they absorb carbon monoxide from the air at night. If the plant is wet it doesn’t allow it to breathe.
